Police Charge Man After Pursuit At Ryde

A man was charged after a pursuit in Sydney's north west today.

About 10.50am today (3 June 2025), officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command were patrolling on Victoria Road, Ermington, when they attempted to stop a white hatchback being driven dangerously.

When it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through Belmore Street, Ryde, where it was terminated after the vehicle stopped.

The vehicle was searched, and a small amount of cannabis leaf were seized.

The driver – a 42-year-old man – was taken to Gladesville Police Station where he was charged with possess prohibited drug, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, driver not wear seatbelt properly adjusted and fastened, and driver use mobile phone when not permitted.

Further inquires revealed he was allegedly involved in a break and enter in Tumut area on Thursday 29 May 2025.

He was subsequently charged with destroy or damage property less than or equal to 2000, and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 4 June 2025).
