Police Charge Man After Pursuit At San Remo

A man has been charged after an alleged pursuit in the Central Coast last night.

About 6.25pm (Friday 29 May 2026), officers attached to the Tuggerah Lakes Police District were patrolling the San Remo area, when they allegedly observed a vehicle with no registration plates travelling south along the Pacific Highway.

When the vehicle failed to stop when directed, a pursuit was initiated.

After a short distance, the vehicle crashed into a median strip, coming to a stop at the intersection of Costa Avenue, Charmhaven.

The driver, a 19-year-old man, was subjected to roadside testing which allegedly returned positive results.

He was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he underwent secondary testing which allegedly returned a reading of 0.062.

He was charged with,

- Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously,

- Drive while licence cancelled - 2nd+ offence,

- Use unsafe or unserviceable vehicle on road etc,

- Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road,

- Use uninsured motor vehicle on road,

- Owner use vehicle on road/road related area motor vehicle tax unpaid, and

- Drive with low range PCA.

He is due to appear before Wyong Local Court on Monday 29 June 2026.
