A man has been charged following a pursuit and crash through Sydney's western suburbs yesterday.
Officers attached to City East Traffic and Highway Patrol attempted to stop an allegedly stolen vehicle on the M4 motorway about 8.50pm (Friday 2 January 2026).
When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit was terminated later on M4 motorway at the exit to Reservoir Road at Blacktown.
A short time later, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle further along on Reservoir Road.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, was trapped for some time before being freed and treated for minor injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
He was taken to hospital under police guard before being released into police custody. He was taken to Blacktown Police station where he was charged with:
- Police pursuit-not-stop-drive dangerously
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen
- Drive motor vehicle under influence of drugs
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 6 tomorrow, Sunday 4 January 2026
