Police Charge Man After Pursuit In Riverwood

About 3am (Wednesday 2 September 2026), officers attached to Campsie Police Area Command attempted to stop a Mercedes on Hannans Road, Riverwood, after it was observed allegedly speeding.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated; however, was shortly terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, officers arrested a 44-year-old man on Virigina Place, Riverwood, following a foot pursuit.

Police will allege the 44-year-old man resisted police and assaulted the attending officers.

No officer was injured during the arrest.

The man was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with:

  • Two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
  • Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously.
  • Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).

He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday 2 September 2026).
