Police charge man after ram raid in Hallam

Dandenong police charged a 21-year-old man after a car was stolen during a ram raid in Hallam early this morning.

It is alleged a man driving a stolen vehicle attended a business on Star Crescent and rammed the front doors of the factory just after 12.30am.

Once inside the offender allegedly ransacked the premises and stole a cash register, mobile phones and car keys belonging to a black Jeep parked in the driveway.

The offender then fled the scene in the Jeep.

Police patrolled the area and located the Jeep parked on Rimfire Drive in Hallam and arrested the man who was inside a business about 1.30am.

A Drouin man has been charged with burglary and theft of motor vehicle.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court this morning.
