Police charge man after serious assault at Narrandera

A man will face court today charged after a serious assault in Narrandera overnight.

Police have been told two men aged 23 and 26 were involved in an altercation outside a licensed premises in Twyman Street, Narrandera, about 9pm yesterday (Thursday 28 November 2019).

Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District attended and found a 26-year-old man unresponsive.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wagga Wagga Hospital in a serious condition.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man at the scene. He was taken to Narrandera Hospital under police guard for an injury to his hand.

A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Upon his release from hospital, the 23-year-old man was charged with recklessly cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and is due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 29 November 2019).

Police inquiries are continuing.
