A man has been charged following an alleged serious assault in Sydney's south west.
About 8.30pm on Monday 14 July 2025, officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended Padstow Parade at Padstow, following reports of an assault.
Police were told a 54-year-old man was allegedly punched in the head by a 24-year-old man, before he fell to the ground where he was further assaulted.
The 54-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to hospital with serious facial injuries.
The 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been taken to Bankstown Police Station.
A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident commenced.
Following inquiries, the 24-year-old man was charged with affray and cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.
The man was refused bail and appeared before Bankstown Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 16 July 2025) and is due to reappear at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday 10 September 2025.
