Police charge man after sexual assault - Guildford West

A man has been charged after a boy was allegedly sexually assaulted in Sydney's west.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports an 11-year old boy had been sexually assaulted by a man between January 2019 and December 2020, while at a gym in Guildford West.

A member of the boy's family notified police on Monday (11 January 2021), and, following inquiries, Cumberland PAC detectives attended a home in Woodpark, about 8.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 January 2021).

A 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with aggravated sex assault – victim under the age of 16 years, and intentionally-sexually touch child between 10 and 16.

The Woodpark man was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 13 January 2021).
