Police charge man after Southbank assault 4 November

A man has been charged following an alleged serious assault in Southbank last week.

Detectives from Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Altona Meadows early this morning.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with affray, recklessly cause serious injury and recklessly cause injury.

He is expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrate's Court later today.

The charges relate to an incident on 30 October where a 25-year-old Springvale man was allegedly struck during an altercation between two groups of men along Riverside Quay about 12.40am.

He remains in hospital in a serious condition.
