Police charge man after St Albans death

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man this afternoon following the death of a woman in St Albans last night.

Police were called to an Andrea Street residence following the discovery of a deceased 48-year-old woman about 7.20pm on 20 May.

A 76-year-old man attended a police station a short time later and was taken into custody.

The St Albans man has now been charged with one count of murder and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court shortly.

Both parties are believed to be known to each other.
