Police charge man after St Kilda stabbing

A man has been charged following an alleged stabbing at a café in St Kilda yesterday morning.

The 42-year-old St Kilda man has been charged with intentionally cause serious injury, recklessly cause serious injury, intentionally cause injury and assault with a weapon.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

The charges follow an altercation at a café along Fitzroy Street between two men believed to be known to one another just before 10am.

The victim, a 48-year-old Melbourne man, was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The St Kilda man was arrested at the scene.
