Police charge man after stabbing at Junee

A man has been charged after another man was stabbed in the state's south west yesterday.

About 1.45am (Saturday 26 June 2021), emergency services were called to a licensed premise on Hill Street at Junee, after reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers from the Riverina Police District Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Police found a 26-year-old man with a laceration to his head and a 24-year-old man with stab wounds to his head and torso.

The younger man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The older man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, before being transferred to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for treatment an injury to his eyebrow.

He was later released and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Monday 28 June 2021.
