Police charge man after stabbing at Tamworth

A man will face court today charged after an alleged stabbing in Tamworth.

Just after 1pm yesterday (Thursday 28 October 2021), emergency services were called to a house on Thomas Street, West Tamworth, after reports of an assault.

On arrival, officers attached to Oxley Police District were told a group of men had been involved in an altercation, before a 32-year-old man sustained a stab wound to his head.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene, before he was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, police attended an address on Drakeford Place, Westdale, a short time later where they arrested two men – aged 24 and 22.

They were taken to Tamworth Police Station, where the 24-year-old man was charged with wound with intent to murder and affray.

The 22-year-old man was charged with two counts of assault police and affray.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today (Friday 29 October 2021).
