Police charge man after stolen Audi speeds though southeast

A man has been charged after police observed an allegedly stolen vehicle travelling at high speeds throughout Melbourne's southeast in the early hours of Friday morning.

The white Audi sedan was first sighted in Hallam Road, Endeavour Hills, about 1.30am on 24 April.

Police attempted to pull over the car but it was allegedly driven off at speed.

The Victoria Police Airwing followed the vehicle as it was driven at high speeds onto the Monash Freeway.

The Audi eventually stopped at the intersection of John and James Street, Pakenham, where police arrested a 19-year-old Hampton Park man.

He has been charged with several offences including reckless conduct endangering life and serious injury, dangerous drive while pursued by police, fail to stop motor vehicle, theft of motor vehicle and fail to comply with a direction.

The man was remanded to appear in Dandenong Magistrate's Court today.
