Police charge man after stolen car crashes near Albury

A man has been charged after an alleged stolen car crashes near Albury.

Just before 10am (Monday 21 October 2019, emergency services were called to Reapers Road, Culcairn, north of Albury, after reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Officers from Murray River Police District, and the Traffic and Highway Patrol attended and found the stolen Suzuki Swift had hit a tree and rolled; however, there was no one with the vehicle.

Following a search, a 30-year-old man was arrested about 10.30am south on Olympic Highway, about two km north of the Culcairn township. He was taken to Culcairn Hospital where he underwent blood and urine testing.

He was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, motor vehicle exceed speed more than 30 km, receive etc property stolen outside NSW, and driver never licensed.

The Queensland man was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court today (Tuesday 22 October 2019).
