Police charge man after Sunbury ramming

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 19-year-old man after the alleged ramming of a police car which left a Senior Constable with serious injuries.

Officers were patrolling Reservoir Road, Sunbury about 11.40pm on Friday night when they attempted to speak to the occupants of a gold coloured Commodore sedan.

As the officers exited their vehicle it is alleged the Commodore accelerated and hit the police driver's door, pinning and injuring the male Senior Constable.

The officer was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A Sunbury man has been charged with conduct endangering life and other related offences.

He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
