Police charge man after teenager assaulted -Riverwood

A man will face court after a teenager was allegedly assaulted in Sydney's south west.

About 8am yesterday (Tuesday 15 September 2020), a 15-year-old girl and her friend were at a park in Webb Street, Riverwood when she was allegedly assaulted by a 42-year-old man.

It's alleged he approached the pair and became involved in a verbal altercation before spitting on the teen.

Police have been told the girl began running away but was allegedly followed by the man, pushed to the ground and punched.

Officers attached to St George Police Area Command attended the scene and commenced investigations.

About 4.45pm (Tuesday 15 September 2020), the man attended Kogarah Police Station where he was arrested and charged with three counts of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was given strict conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 22 September 2020.

Investigations are continuing.
