Police charge man after Thomastown fatal collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a fatal collision in Thomastown on Sunday, 26 March.

A 22-year-old Thomastown man has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to render assistance, failing to remain at a scene and other offences.

Emergency Services were called to Mahoneys Road about 1.10am after an allegedly stolen Kia Cerato and a Mercedes SUV collided.

One of the occupants of the Cerato, a 19-year-old Mill Park woman, died at the scene.

Another female passenger in the Cerato, and the man and woman from the Mercedes were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 22-year-old Thomastown man was arrested at an address in Box Hill on Wednesday.

He's been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.
