Police charge man after Werribee shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged a man following a non-fatal shooting in Werribee last month.

Detectives executed a warrant at a Werribee North Road, Werribee address about 3.15pm on 30 September as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police arrested two men, both aged 23, and seized a loaded homemade pistol, swords, knives and a stolen motorcycle.

A 23-year-old Werribee man was interviewed and charged with prohibited person possess firearm, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, reckless conduct endanger life, weapons offences and theft.

He was remanded overnight to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

A second 23-year-old Werribee man was interviewed and released pending further enquiries.

The charges follow an early morning incident in Werribee on Tuesday, 24 August.

A 27-year-old Werribee man sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and presented to a nearby hospital shortly after.
