Homicide Squad detectives have charged an 80-year-old man following the death of a woman in Wollert this morning.
Emergency services were called to a Saltlake Boulevard address after reports a 77-year-old woman was located unresponsive inside about 6.30am on 25 January.
The Wollert woman was declared deceased at the scene.
Investigators arrested a Wollert man at the scene, who has now been charged with one count of murder.
He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning.
The parties were known to each other.
