A man will face court today charged after a woman was allegedly shot in the arm in Lake Macquarie last week.
About 9.20pm on Tuesday 30 June 2026, police were called to a home in Charlestown, where a woman was located suffering a gunshot wound to her arm.
Following inquiries, police established that the woman had been shot outside a unit on Paper Street, Gateshead, a short time earlier.
The 50-year-old woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District and the State Crime Command's Raptor North commenced an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, about 6pm yesterday (Tuesday 8 July 2026), officers executed a search warrant at a home on South Street, Windale.
During the search, police allegedly located and seized items of interest including ammunition, knuckledusters and electronics.
A 21-year-old man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with discharge firearm etc intend cause grievous bodily harm, fire firearm manner likely injure persons/property, and use unauthorised firearm.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Wednesday 8 July 2026).
Inquiries into the incident are continuing by police.
