Police charge man following Clayton South hit-run

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 35-year-old man following an alleged hit-run in Clayton South on 2 February.

The hit-run collision occurred on Clayton Road, where two pedestrians were struck by a car while waiting at a bus stop shortly after 11am.

A 17-year-old Clayton girl and 20-year-old man were taken to hospital, where they remain in hospital in critical conditions.

A man of no fixed place of address was arrested later that night.

He has since been charged with a number of offences, including:

- Two counts of dangerous driving causing serious injury;

- Fail to render assistance at the scene of a serious injury collision;

- Burglary;

- Theft of motor vehicle; and

- Unlicensed driving

The man will be direct presented to Melbourne Magistrates' Court this evening.
