Police charge man for armed robbery at Nowra

A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery in Nowra overnight.

About 7.50pm yesterday (Thursday 25 July 2019), a 14-year-old boy was walking along Leatham Avenue, Nowra, when he was approached by two men in a maroon sedan.

The two men threatened the boy, demanding his mobile phone before punching him in the face.

One of the men, armed with a bladed tool, forcibly removed the boy's backpack before both men got in the car and fled.

The incident was reported to officers from South Coast Police District after the boy sustained minor facial injuries

Following inquiries, officers arrested a 21-year-old man at a Nowra home about 11pm.

He was taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Nowra Local Court today (Friday 26 July 2019).
