Police charge man for intimidation and incitement as part of Operation Achilles

Police have charged a man following an investigation into illegal hoon driving events across Melbourne's northern and western suburbs as part of the state-wide Operation Achilles.

It's alleged the male operates social media accounts with over 20,000 followers encouraging illegal hoon driving in Victoria and made menacing comments to a police officer on one of the pages.

Following the execution of a search warrant this morning, a 24-year-old Macleod man has been charged with incitement, intimidation of a law enforcement officer and using a carriage service to menace and harass.

During the execution of the warrant police seized an electronic device as well as two registered firearms.

The man's firearms licence has currently been suspended while an application is made to Victoria Police's Licensing and Regulation Division to decide whether his licence is cancelled.

He has been bailed to appear at the Heidelberg Magistrates' Court on 16 December.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives ask anyone with information to come forward and report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
