Police charge man for St Kilda East stabbing

Police have charged a 37-year-old man following a stabbing in St Kilda East this morning.

Officers arrested the St Kilda East man about 3.45am in the front yard of a neighbouring premises.

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged him with intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury, unlawful assault and assault with a weapon.

The St Kilda East man was remanded in custody and is expected to appear before the Moorabbin Magistrates' Court later today.

A 49-year-old St Kilda East man remains in a stable condition in hospital.

He was found, with what appeared to be a number of stab wounds, by residents at a Tantram Avenue property who contacted emergency services about 1.50am.
