Police charge man in court over public place shooting - La Perouse

A man will face court charged with robbery and firearm offences after an attempted armed robbery in Sydney's south-east.

Just before 4am (Wednesday 3 February 2021), police were called to a convenience store on Bunnerong Road, Matraville, following reports of an attempted armed robbery.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended, established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 4.50am, police went to a house in Elaroo Avenue, La Perouse, and arrested a 26-year-old man.

The man was taken to Maroubra Police Station, while police executed a search warrant on the home.

During the search, police seized a replica Remington pump action shot gun, a replica Glock handgun, a set of knuckle dusters and anabolic steroids.

The man was charged with seven offences, including;

  • Armed with intent (to commit armed robbery)
  • Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm (two counts)
  • Possess unregistered unauthorised prohibited firearm (two counts)
  • Possess prohibited weapon
  • Possess prescribed restricted substance

He has been refused bail and will appear before Waverley Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 4 February 2021).
