Police Charge Man In Dubbo - Operation Candle

A man has faced court today charged domestic violence-related offences in the state's Central West.

In December 2024, officers attached to the Western Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team (DVHROT) established Operation Candle, to focus on domestic violence offenders with outstanding arrest warrants throughout the Western Region.

About 4.40pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 May 2025), the DVHROT team, with the assistance from Western Region Operation Support Group (OSG), Orana Mid-Western Police District, and the Dog Unit, arrested a 29-year-old man at a home on Bunglegumbie Road, Dubbo.

The man was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic), assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and destroy or damage property.

An outstanding warrant for traffic-related offence was also executed.

He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 8 May 2025), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 13 August 2025.
