Police charge man over aggravated break-in, police pursuit at Orange

A man will appear before court today on multiple property and vehicle offences alleged to have occurred in the state's Central Tablelands.

About 2.50am yesterday (Sunday 28 February 2021), three men entered a home on Autumn Street, Orange, where they allegedly took car keys to a Honda CRV and drove it from the scene.

Officers attached to Central West Police District were alerted and commenced inquiries.

About 4.15am, police were patrolling the township when they sighted the stolen car at the intersection of Sampson and Windred streets.

Officers will allege the vehicle was driven from the area at speed after police had indicated for it to stop.

A pursuit was initiated, however the car stopped and its occupants ran from the scene.

Following inquiries, a 19-year-old man was arrested at Orange Police Station, about 3.45pm the same day.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and police pursuit. The man was also charged with breach of bail.

He has been bail refused to appear before Orange Local Court today (Monday 1 March 2021).
