Police Charge Man Over Armed Robbery At Orange

A man has faced court over an alleged armed robbery in the state's Central West yesterday.

Officers attached to Central West Police District were called to a park on Summer Street, Orange, about 10am yesterday (Thursday 18 June 2026), with reports a man had been threatened with a knife.

Police arrived and were told a man had allegedly threatened another man – aged in his 40s – with a knife, reportedly lunging at him with the weapon, before stealing the man's bicycle.

The man – aged 56 – then reportedly rode away on the bike before providing it to another man and leaving the area.

Following inquiries, about 2pm yesterday (Thursday 6 June 2026), police arrested a 56-year-old man at an address on Dalton Street, Orange.

During a search of the property, police located and seized the allegedly stolen bicycle.

The man was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, and dispose property-theft=serious indictable offence less than or equal to $5000.

He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 4 today (Friday 19 June 2026), where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Orange Local Court on Thursday 13 August 2026.
