Police charge man over armed robbery - Haberfield

Detectives have charged a man over the alleged armed robbery of a business at Haberfield last year.

About 1.50am on Wednesday 31 December 2023, a man entered a service station on Parramatta Road, and allegedly produced a firearm before threatening an employee, demanding cash and cigarettes.

The man fled on foot and police were notified.

Officers from Burwood Police Area command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 28-year-old man on Colechin Street, Yagoona, yesterday (Tuesday 16 January 2024).

Officers subsequently executed a search warrant at a home on Garnet Street, Guildford, where they found two pistols and items relevant to the investigation. These were all seized for forensic examination.

The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, two counts of possess unregistered firearm pistol, two counts of possess unauthorised pistol and two counts of not keep firearm safely pistol.

He was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Wednesday 17 January 2024).
