A man has been charged over an alleged armed robbery that occurred in the inner city earlier this year.
About 6.15am on Sunday 9 February 2025, officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command responded to reports of an armed robbery at a service station on Oxford Street, Paddington.
Police were informed that a male entered the store allegedly threatening two male employees – aged 21 and 30 – with a samurai sword.
The man left the store with personal property belonging to one of the employees and two drinks.
A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced.
The employee's property and the samurai sword were located a short time later in a nearby building site and seized for forensic examination.
Following extensive inquiries detectives today (Tuesday 1 July 2025), arrested a 32-year-old man at a unit complex on Belvoir Street, Surry Hills.
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with Robbery armed with offensive weapon.
The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 2 July 2025).
There were no reports of any person being injured during the incident.
