Police Charge Man Over Assault - Berala

A man has been charged following an alleged assault in Berala earlier this week.

Around 9.55am on Monday 29 September 2025, emergency services were called to a unit block on Graham Street, Berala, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and located a 50-year-old man with serious injuries.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Attending officers attempted to engage with a man at the address, who barricaded himself within a unit.

A perimeter was established and specialist officers, including officers attached to the Public Order and Riot Squad (PORS) and Dog Unit, were called in to assist.

About 11.10am on the same day, PORS officers entered the premises and arrested the 25-year-old man.

He was treated at the scene for minor injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to hospital for further assessment.

Following inquiries, he was charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm (DV).

The man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 1 October 2025).
