Police charge man over attempted sexual assault at Randwick

A man has been charged over the alleged attempted sexual assault of a woman in Randwick earlier this month.

About 4am on Sunday 14 July 2019, a 27-year-old woman was walking along Kynston Avenue, when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man.

The man allegedly attempted to sexually assault the woman and when she resisted, he pushed her the ground and kicked her before fleeing.

The incident was later reported to police from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command, who commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested an 18-year-old man, an Indian National, at a Randwick home about 12pm yesterday (Thursday 25 July 2019).

He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with inflict actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse, sexually touch another person without consent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.

The man was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court today (Friday 26 July 2019).
