Police Charge Man Over Break And Enter - New Lambton

A man will face court today charged with property offences alleged to have occurred at a landslip-affected home in New Lambton early this morning.

About 1.35am (Wednesday 25 June 2025), police were called to a home on Russell Road, New Lambton, following reports of a break and enter.

Police attached to Newcastle City Police District responded and commenced a search of the area.

A short time later, police sighted a man allegedly climbing the boundary fence of the property.

The 28-year-old man was arrested nearby following a brief foot pursuit.

A subsequent search of the man allegedly revealed bank cards, perfume bottles, electronics, watches, and other jewellery items believed to have been stolen.

A search of the man's backpack allegedly revealed a machete, balaclava, and housebreaking implements.

The Lake Macquarie man was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with four offences,

  • Break and enter house etc steal value <= $60,000
  • Possess housebreaking implements
  • Carry cutting weapon upon apprehension, and
  • Face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 25 June 2025).
