A man will face court today charged after allegedly discharging a firearm into a caravan on the South Coast this week.
About 3am on Monday (17 August 2020), officers from South Coast Police District responded to reports of a shooting at a caravan park on Pleasant Way, Nowra.
Police were told a 52-year-old man was sitting near the door of his van at a caravan park when another man approached him, and an argument ensued.
Police will allege in court that during the argument a firearm was produced and pointed at the 52-year-old occupant before a shot was fired, narrowly missing him. No injuries were reported.
As part of inquiries, South Coast Proactive Crime Team officers returned to the caravan park about 1pm yesterday (Tuesday 18 August 2020), and spoke with a 22-year-old man.
He was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with shoot at with intent to murder, discharge firearm intend to cause grievous bodily harm, possess loaded firearm public place, fire firearm in or near public place, Use unregistered firearm-not prohibited firearm/pistol.
The man was refused bail to appear at Nowra Local Court today (Wednesday 19 August 2020).
