Police Charge Man Over Child Approach, Assault - Collaroy

A man will appear in court today charged following an investigation into an alleged child approach and assault on the Northern Beaches.

About 8.15pm on Friday 10 October 2025, a 12-year-old boy was allegedly approached by an unknown man at the intersection of Collaroy Street and Pittwater Road, Collaroy.

The man allegedly engaged the boy in conversation before taking hold of his arm and attempting to lead him away from the area.

The boy's relative – a 71-year-old man – intervened but was allegedly punched by the other man. The two then fell to the ground, where the older man was struck multiple times.

Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended and arrested a 44-year-old man a short distance away.

He was taken to Manly Police Station and charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm and two counts of common assault.

He was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 12 October 2025).
