A man has been charged with drug and property offences after allegedly importing a marketable quantity of MDMA on the state's Far North Coast.
Earlier this month, Australian Federal Police intercepted a package from the United Kingdom which allegedly contained 124gm of MDMA.
Officers attached to Northern Region Enforcement Squad North Coast were alerted and commenced Strike Force Yalwah to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged drug importation.
Following extensive inquiries, shortly before midday yesterday (Wednesday 30 October 2019), an 18-year-old man attended a post office on Wharf Street, Tweed Heads where he was arrested.
Police then executed a search warrant at a home on Semillon Court, Tweed Heads South where they allegedly located and seized drug paraphernalia and electronic storage devices for Bitcoin transactions.
He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with possess marketable quantity unlawful import border control drug and deal with the property proceeds of crime less than $100,000.
He was refused bail to face Tweed Heads Local Court today (Thursday 31 October 2019) where he was granted conditional bail to appear at the same court on Monday 11 November 2019.
