Police charge man over drug supply at Griffith

A man has been charged over the alleged supply of illicit drugs in the state's Murrumbidgee region.

Last month, detectives from Murrumbidgee Police District commenced an investigation into the alleged supply of illicit drugs in the Griffith area.

As part of ongoing inquiries, police seized a mail consignment containing a suspicious substance last Thursday (17 November 2022).

During a subsequent deconstruction and forensic examination, the package was allegedly found to contain cocaine, with an estimated potential street value of $28,000 dollars.

Following inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Bowditch Place, Griffith, about 11.50am the following day.

During the search, officer located and seized almost 470g of cannabis, with an estimated potential street value of $9,000.

A 63-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Griffith Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited plant, and possess prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 21 December 2022.

Investigations continue.
