Police charge man over grooming offences - South Coast

A teenage boy has been charged after an alleged armed robbery in Gerringong last week.

About 9.30pm on Tuesday 3 November 2020, a teenage boy, allegedly armed with a firearm, entered a service station on Fern Street, Gerringong, and threatened an employee.

The teen allegedly took cash from the till and cigarettes before fleeing the store on foot towards Werri Beach.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District commenced inquiries.

Following inquiries, about 9.10am on 6 November 2020, investigators stopped a vehicle on Burra Street, Gerringong, and arrested a 15-year-old boy.

A search warrant was executed at the teen's Gerringong home, where a number of items were seized for forensic examination.

The teen was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with robbery armed with dangerous weapon (firearm).

He was refused bail and appeared in a children's court on Saturday 7 November 2020, where he was formally refused bail, to reappear in a children's court today (Tuesday 10 November 2020).
