Police charge man over online grooming - Manildra, near Orange

A man will face court today following an investigation by officers from the Central West Police District into alleged online child exploitation offences.

Earlier this month detectives from the Central West Police District and the State Crime Command's Child Sex Abuse Squad commenced an investigation after receiving information about a man who had uploaded explicit images to a social media platform.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 45-year-old Manildra man about 10.20pm yesterday (Wednesday 17 February 2021).

A search warrant was subsequently executed at the home, where detectives seized electronic storage devices and computers, which will undergo further examination.

The man was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with use carriage service for child abuse material.

He was refused bail and is expected to appear in Orange Local Court today (Thursday 18 February 2021).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
