Police charge man over outstanding warrants - Murray River

A man wanted on eight outstanding warrants has been charged after being found hiding under a bed in the Murray River region.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District have been conducting extensive inquiries to locate a 31-year-old man, wanted on eight arrest warrants for domestic violence related and traffic offences along with escape police custody, custody of knife in public place and acquire firearm part without authority to do so.

As part of inquiries, officers attended a home on Eastern Circuit, East Albury, about 10.30pm on Saturday (21 August 2021), where a man was seen to retreat inside.

Police entered the home and located the man hiding under a bed. A modified baton was also located and seized.

The man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic). The eight outstanding warrants were also executed.

He appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court yesterday (Sunday 22 August 2021), where he was formally refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today (Monday 23 August 2021).
