Police Charge Man Over Pursuit - Abercrombie

A man will face court after an alleged pursuit in the Bathurst area.

About 12.30am today (Sunday 14 September 2025), officers attached to Chifley Police District were patrolling on Eglinton Road, Abercrombie, when they located a silver sedan being driven in a dangerous manner.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle on Farmgate Drive, it allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through Colville Street, where it was terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, another pursuit was initiated on Richardson Road; however, it was terminated a short time later.

Following inquiries, about 7.30am on the same day, officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command arrested a 22-year-old man at a home on Weeronga Way, Kelso and seized the sedan for forensic examination.

The man was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly (two counts), P2 driver exceed speed more than 45km/h – estimated (two counts), and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous (two counts).

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 4 tomorrow (Monday 15 September 2025).

His licence has been suspended.
