Police charge man over Railton incident

A 29 year old Railton man has been charged with Firearms, Family Violence offences, Aggravated Burglaries, Burglaries, multiple Motor Vehicle Stealings, Dangerous Driving, Aggravated Evade, and destroy property following an extensive investigation by Devonport CIB.

He will appear in an after hours court to be held at the Devonport Magistrates Court at 7pm tonight (Sunday 13 October).

Investigations are ongoing and further charges may result.

The man was allegedly in possession of a firearm and ammunition at the time of his arrest.

Police, including the Special Operations Group, were involved in the arrest to ensure public safety.

Following the arrest, police conducted a number of searches in north-west Tasmania recovering stolen vehicles, stolen property and a quantity of ammunition.
