Police charge man over sexual act on train at Wollongong

A man has been charged over alleged sexual acts on a city-bound train last week.

Just before 7.30pm (Friday 13 March 2020), a 20-year-old woman boarded a city-bound train at Wollongong when a man seated nearby is alleged to have exposed himself towards the female passenger on the train.

When the woman moved between carriages, the man followed her and allegedly committed a further sexual act.

The passenger alerted police, who arrested the 49-year-old man when the train stopped at Central Railway Station.

He was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear or physical harm, carry out sexual act without consent and wilful and obscene exposure.

The Warilla man has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Downing Centre Court on Friday 17 April 2020.
