Police charge man over stabbing - Merrylands

A man will face court tomorrow charged after another man was allegedly stabbed multiple times at Merrylands overnight.

Emergency services were called to Post Office Lane about 11pm (Sunday 21 February 2021), and found a 36-year-old man with multiple stab wounds being assisted by passers-by.

Police have been told the man was allegedly stabbed following an argument with a man shortly before he was found injured.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and conducted a canvass of the area.

Following inquiries, a 29-year-old man was arrested outside a home in Newman Street, Merrylands, about 3am today (Monday 22 February 2021).

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.

The Blacktown man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 23 January 2021).
