Police Charge Man Over Stabbing At Dubbo

A man has faced court following an alleged stabbing in the state's Orana region earlier this month.

Emergency services were called to a hotel on Birch Avenue, Dubbo, about 6.45pm Thursday 16 April 2026, following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District arrived and were told a 22-year-old man had been stabbed by an unknown man before the injured man ran from the scene.

Following inquiries, the 22-year-old was located by a passing motorist and taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for serious injuries to his stomach and chest.

Police established a crime scene at the hotel on Birch Avenue and commenced an investigation to locate the unknown man.

Following extensive inquiries, about 10.30pm yesterday (Thursday 23 April 2026), police arrested a 29-year-old man at a unit complex on Phillip Street, Orange. He was taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 4 today (Friday 24 April 2026), where he was formally refused bail to face Dubbo Local Court on Thursday 18 June 2026.

Police will allege the parties were known to each other.
