Police charge man over 'upskirting' offences at Wynyard

A man will reappear in court today charged over several alleged 'upskirting' offences across Sydney's CBD.

Acting on information provided to Crime Stoppers, police commenced an investigation following reports an unknown man was filming a woman without her consent on a platform at Wynyard Railway Station on Wednesday 29 January 2020.

Following inquiries, officers attached to Police Transport Action Group were patrolling Wynyard Railway Station when they noticed a man allegedly filming women without their consent.

The 39-year-old man was arrested and during a search, officers seized a GoPro camera.

He was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with seven counts of film person's private parts without consent.

The Lidcombe man was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday 18 July 2020, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Wednesday 29 July 2020).
