Police charge man over violent dispute at Lithgow

A man will appear at Lithgow court today after a dispute occurred at a home in the state's Central Tablelands.

About 9.30pm yesterday (Thursday 4 July 2019), a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy attended a home on Academy Street, Lithgow, to confront a 25-year-old man in relation to an ongoing dispute.

Several confrontations involving numerous people occurred at the premises.

During one of the confrontations, it is alleged the 25-year-old man produced a compound bow which was used to threaten the 17-year-old boy.

A 17-year-old girl also attended the home, before the trio were directed to leave by the 25-year-old.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended the address a short time later following reports of a dispute.

About 3.15am today (Friday 5 July 2019), police returned to the Academy Street home where they arrested the 25-year-old man and searched the premises.

A cross bow and several arrows were located and seized.

The man was taken to Lithgow Police Station where he was charged with use of offensive weapon (x2) and intimidation (x2).

He was bail refused to appear at Lithgow Local Court today (Friday 5 July 2019).

Inquiries into the incident continue.
