Police Charge Man Re Historical Sexual Offences

Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have charged a man as part of an investigation into a series of alleged sexual offences over two decades ago.

A 55-year-old man, who was in custody in NSW on unrelated matters, was transferred to Victoria earlier this week under a custodial order.

He will be charged today with 10 offences including sexual penetration of a child under 16 years of age (x5) and indecent acts with a child under 16 years of age (x5).

The man will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court this morning.

The charges relate to a number of alleged offences in the Wodonga area between July 2001 and December 2002.

Victoria Police encourages all victims of sexual assault and child abuse, and anyone who has knowledge of such a crime, to make a report.
