Police charge man with armed robbery at Wagga

A man has been charged following an armed robbery in the state's south west.

About 9.15pm yesterday (Thursday 29 November 2019) a man attended a service station on Bourke Street, Wagga Wagga.

Police allege the man approached the serving window and produced a knife before demanding cash and cigarettes.

The attendant refused and called police to report the incident.

The man then allegedly approached another man who was filling his car with petrol and threatened him with the knife, demanding cigarettes.

An officer attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended and allegedly witnessed the man attempting to conceal the knife.

The 27-year-old man was placed under arrest and was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with armed robbery and attempted armed robbery.

He was refused bail and is due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 29 November 2019).
